The recently formed Athlone Old Boys Society (AOBS)
has been organized as a not for profit group to preserve the name and priceless
memories of Athlone School in perpetuity for future generations.
The purposes or the Society are:
a) To reunite and provide an organization for former students, teachers and employees
(the "Alumni") or Athlone School of Vancouver, British Columbia ("Athlone");
b) To encourage and sponsor worthwhile endeavors in the fields of education and sports;
c) To provide facilities for the exchange of information for the Alumni and to hold meetings
and reunions for the Alumni who are members of the Society.
The AOBS was formed to not only publish valuable historical reference books on the school's
history but also to keep the memory of the school alive in perpetuity. The Board of Directors
is currently working on several initiatives in this regard including (but not limited to):
creating an Athlone House at complementary allied schools, funding bursaries and scholarships
at these remaining schools, improving our website, capturing national print media with our story,
publishing a second book by 2008, circulating a regular newsletter, fundraising for charity, and
organizing future reunion dates, to name just a few.
